He Yafei Visits the British Parliament
2013-12-12 01:46

(China News, 12 December) According to the report of the British Edition of European Times, He Yafei, Vice Minister of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council headed a delegation to the House of Lords on their visit to Britain. He Yafei met with Lord Michael Bates, Deputy Speaker of the House of Lords and Vice-chairman of the Conservative Party, Lord Wei of Shoreditch and other members of the House of Lords and had friendly discussions with them.

He Yafei and Lord Bates and Lord Wei discussed the spread of Chinese culture in Britain, the Chinese teaching in Britain, the participation of the Chinese in British politics and their efforts in safeguarding legal rights.

He Yafei said that unlike the overseas Chinese of the elder generation, most of the overseas Chinese today are students who have received full education. Therefore, they should be more involved in overseas mainstream social activities and be more integrated in the society.

In addition, He Yafei also met with Richard Graham, member of the House of Commons and Chairman of APPCG and had friendly talks with him.
