Welcome to the website of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the United Kingdom!

China, one of the oldest civilisations in the world, has created a splendid culture and made significant contribution to the progress of mankind.

Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, which was established in 1921, the Chinese people waged arduous and heroic struggles to found the People's Republic of China in 1949. After that, through decades of strenuous efforts, China has achieved the miracles of rapid economic growth and sustained social stability rarely seen in the world. Over the past 40-plus years, 770 million rural residents living below China's poverty line have shaken off poverty. Today, China has entered a new stage of development, and embarked on a new journey toward fully building a modern socialist country. Putting people front and centre in its development, China is following a new philosophy featuring innovative, coordinated, green, open and shared development. China will continue to hold high the banner of peace, development and win-win cooperation, expand friendly cooperation with all countries on the basis of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, and promote the building of a new type of international relations and a community with a shared future for mankind.

The Chinese and British peoples have a long history of extensive interactions. The two countries are both permanent members of the UN Security Council and have significant global influence. A sound China-UK relationship is not only in the fundamental interests of both countries and peoples, but also conducive to world peace, stability and development. China stands ready to work with the UK to enhance exchanges, expand cooperation and handle differences in an appropriate manner under the principles of mutual respect, equality, inclusiveness and mutual learning, so as to ensure the sound and steady development of China-UK relations, and deliver more benefits to the peoples of the two countries and beyond.

Through this website, the Chinese Embassy in the UK will release policy updates and provide useful information and good services. I hope this website will serve as an important window on China and China-UK relations and help deepen mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of the two countries.

Thank you for visiting this website. We would very much appreciate your comments and suggestions.
