Chairman of the National People's Congress Zhang Dejiang Met with Prime Minister David Cameron
2013-12-02 16:25

On 2 December, 2013, Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee Zhang Dejiang met with Prime Minister David Cameron in the Great Hall of the People.

Zhang Dejiang said that to seize cooperation opportunities and enhance China-UK relations conform to the trend of the times and serve the fundamental interests of the two countries and peoples. As China-UK relations return to the right track, China and Britain now face new potentials for all-around cooperation. Over the years, China's National People's Congress and the British Parliament have maintained friendly exchanges and established a regular parliamentary exchange mechanism. He hopes the two sides will make joint efforts to broaden and deepen exchanges, increase mutual learning in law-making and governance for greater mutual understanding, respect each other's concerns, enhance political mutual trust and promote pragmatic cooperation with a view to fostering greater public support for the stable growth of China-UK relations and building a fair legal environment in the two countries.

David Cameron said that China's success is in the interests of the world. Britain attaches great importance to parliamentary exchanges. It stands ready to strengthen dialogues and exchanges with China in various fields and push for practical cooperation in a spirit of mutual understanding and respect.
