On September 17, celebrations for the 64th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China by Chinese community in Britain were held at the Church House Conference Centre Westminster in London. Chargé d’Affaires Cong Peiwu attended and addressed the audience. Over 500 representatives from the Chinese community throughout Britain watched the national flag-raising ceremony and art performance.
Chargé d’Affaires Cong first extended festival greetings and best wishes to the Chinese community in Britain on behalf of Ambassador Liu Xiaoming and the Chinese Embassy. Looking back at the brilliant achievements made since the founding of the New China 64 years ago, he elaborated on the connotations of the “China dream” and talked about the sound momentum in China’s economic development. He commended the Chinese community in Britain for their positive contribution in participating in and supporting China’s development in various fields, spreading the Chinese culture, integrating into local communities and promoting China-UK exchanges and cooperation in various areas. Mr. Cong said that the Chinese Embassy will continue to do a good job in consular protection and overseas Chinese-related affairs and provide them with high-quality and highly efficient services.
The Chinese community attending the celebration said that celebrating the motherland’s birthday by raising national flag and playing the national anthem best embodies their love for the motherland, they are willing to make unremitting efforts to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the “Chinese Dream”.
