On 9 February 2025, Counsellor Hua Mei, wife of Ambassador Zheng Zeguang, visited the London Mandarin School at invitation. She joined over 200 teachers and students, led by Headteacher Liao Xiuqin, in celebrating the Chinese New Year.

Counsellor Hua conveyed Ambassador Zheng’s warm greetings and Chinese New Year wishes to the school’s staff and students. She also presented the school with Chinese books and Chinese New Year gifts on behalf of the Embassy. She commended the school for its efforts in promoting Chinese language education and Chinese culture, encouraging students to cherish their learning opportunities, improve their Chinese language proficiency, deepen their understanding of Chinese culture, and calling on them to serve as cultural ambassadors and bridges of friendship between China and the UK. During her visit, Counsellor Hua toured the school and had discussions with teachers. Students there introduced their recent Chinese New Year cultural activities in Mandarin, showcased their handmade Chinese New Year posters and lantern riddles, and performed a series of well-rehearsed dances, including Shang Linggu (Ringing Bells), Bang Bang Tang (Lollipop), Ta Chun (Spring Stroll), and Hua'er (Flowers).

Founded in 1997, the London Mandarin School is one of the largest Chinese language schools in the UK. It currently has over 60 teachers and about 600 students, offering more than 50 Chinese language and extracurricular classes.
