2020-08-06 23:16

On 5 August, H.E. Ambassador Liu Xiaoming had an on-line meeting with H.E. Enna Park, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea (ROK) to the UK.

Ambassador Liu said, China attaches great importance to China-ROK relations. As friendly neighbours and key cooperation partners, China and the ROK have been standing together and helping each other in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, gaining important experience for the world and setting up an example for international cooperation on containing the virus. Ambassador Liu shared his views when asked about the current China-UK relationship and China’s stance on issues relating to Hong Kong, Xinjiang and Huawei. He emphasized that China-UK relationship is standing at a historic juncture. Only by observing the basic norms of international relations, namely, maintaining mutual respect, seeking common ground while reserving differences, and upholding mutual benefit and win-win results, can China and the UK continue to have sound and stable relationship.

Ambassador Park agreed with Ambassador Liu on the positive comments on ROK-China relationship, saying that as an Asian country and a neighbor, the ROK is ready to continue enhancing friendly exchanges and practical cooperation with China in various fields.

They also exchanged views on the current international situation, Korean Peninsula, and WTO reform.
