On 3 June, Ambassador Liu Xiaoming had a telephone conversation with David Quarrey, UK Prime Minister's International Affairs Adviser and Deputy National Security Adviser, and exchanged views with him on the Global Vaccine Summit and international joint response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ambassador Liu said, Premier Li Keqiang will attend and speak at the online Global Vaccine Summit on 4 June, which fully reflects the great importance China attaches to the international cooperation in fighting COVID-19. Ambassador Liu hoped that the Summit would enhance international cooperation on the R&D and supply of COVID-19 vaccines, improve the accessibility and affordability of vaccines in developing countries, and demonstrate the confidence and determination of international solidarity and cooperation in tackling the pandemic. He extended his best wishes for a successful summit.
Quarrey expressed his welcome and appreciation with regard to Premier Li attending the Summit, saying that the Summit would convey the determination and solidarity of the international community in the fight against the pandemic. The UK is ready to work closely with all parties to promote vaccine R&D and global joint response to the virus.
