On June 8, Ambassador Liu met at the Chinese Embassy with Chief Minister Terry Le Sueur of Jersey, UK, who is going to visit China.
Chief Minister Terry Le Sueur gave a briefing about Jersey Island. He noted that, although Jersey Island only covers an area of 80 km2 and has a population of over 100,000, it enjoys unique advantages in financial services, agriculture and other sectors. Jersey Island has attached significant importance to the exchanges and cooperation with China. He hoped that his upcoming visit will promote the mutual understanding and friendship between Jersey and China, strengthen cooperation between the two sides in finance, education, agriculture and other sectors, and facilitate substantial growth in bilateral relationship. He invited Ambassador Liu to visit Jersey Island at his convenience.
Ambassador Liu said that China and Jersey Island have complementary advantages in a number of respects and enjoy a broad prospect for further cooperation. China attaches importance to its relationship with Jersey Island. Chief Minister Terry Le Sueur's visit is of significant importance as it will be the first visit to China paid by a Chief Minister of Jersey. He believed that the visit will further promote the exchanges and cooperation in various fields between the two sides and wished the visit a complete success.
Ambassador Liu thanked Chief Minister Terry Le Sueur for his invitation and said that he looks forward to an opportunity to visit Jersey Island.
