Summer Tea Party held Successfully

In the evening of 16 June, there was tea and music at the Tea Exhibition in Asia House. The Chinese Embassy in London and British branch of Huawei jointly held summer tea party here. Charge d'Affairs Zhang Lirong and Huawei's UK Manager Sun Ming joined a hundred friends from the British side in drinking tea, enjoying music and exchanging tea customs.

In his remarks, Zhang Lirong thanked Huawei and Asia House for their active organization of this tea party. He introduced history and stories of tea and expressed his belief that the Chinese tea culture would be able to enhance understanding and friendship between the people of China and the UK and take the bilateral relations forward.

Zhang Lirong introduced Sichuan earthquakes and the assistance of China's provinces to the earthquake areas. He told moving stories in the disaster rescue and relief. Zhang Lirong said that people of different parts of China all had the habit of drinking tea, including the Sichuan people who had just suffered the earthquake. They are perseverant and happy in nature and have helped themselves while being helped by others in the one month after the earthquake.

Sun Ming and Katriana Hazell, Director of Culture of Asia House delivered warm remarks. Sun Ming said that as a hi-tech company from China, Huawei was ready to actively participate in cultural exchange between China and the UK and play an active role in promoting understanding between peoples of the two countries. Two Chinese students from Lancaster University and Norwich University played Guzheng and demonstrated tea customs. They also had interactions with guests present. It was happy and active at the tea party.
