2023-07-15 15:25

On July 14, 2023 local time, Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs Wang Yi met with Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai in Jakarta at the latter's request.

Don Pramudwinai spoke highly of Thailand-China friendship and felt glad for the continuous advancement of all-round cooperation and increasingly closer exchanges in various fields between Thailand and China. Don Pramudwinai briefed on his recent visit to Myanmar for communication and expressed his hope that China will continue to play an important role in promoting the political settlement of the Myanmar issue.

Wang Yi said that China and Thailand are as close as one family. The building of a China-Thailand community with a shared future enjoys profound social and popular foundation, and has received strong support from the ruling and opposition parties across the political spectrum. China is ready to work with Thailand to strengthen strategic communication, consolidate friendship and expand cooperation, and safeguard the common interests of both sides, as well as regional peace and stability and the basic norms governing international relations.

Wang Yi said that China supports resolving the Myanmar issue in the ASEAN way, eliminating external interference and forming a road map acceptable to all parties. China appreciates Thailand's positive actions and the latest progress on the Myanmar issue. China always stands for upholding ASEAN unity and cooperation, supports ASEAN Community building, and will continue to play a constructive role in its own way.
