On January 27, 2023, President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to Bob Dadae on his re-election as Governor-General of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea (PNG).

Xi Jinping pointed out that PNG was among the first Pacific Island countries to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China. The traditional friendship between the two countries has withstood the test of time and is growing with new vitality. The China-PNG comprehensive strategic partnership now keeps developing at a high level, with fruitful exchanges and cooperation in various fields bringing huge benefits to the two peoples. Xi Jinping said that he attaches great importance to the development of China-PNG relations, is ready to work with Governor-General Dadae  to build on past achievements to promote steady and sustained growth of bilateral relations.
