On 24 June 2024, H.E. Ambassador Zheng Zeguang met with Julian Fisher, Chair of the British Chamber of Commerce in China, and his delegation. The two sides exchanged views on the development of British enterprises in China and China-UK economic and trade relations.
Ambassador Zheng noted that China is pursuing the Chinese path to modernisation through high-quality development, fostering new quality productive forces at a faster pace through innovation, and expanding high-standard opening up, sharing the benefits of its development with all parties. China will continue sharing new cooperation opportunities with businesses from the UK and other countries and expand new areas of collaboration. It is hoped that the British Chamber of Commerce in China will continue to play its role as a bridge for the sustained and healthy development of China-UK economic and trade relations. Mr Fisher gave a briefing on “British Business in China: Position Paper 2024” published by the Chamber, saying that British companies attach great importance to expanding their businesses in China. The Chamber supports stronger cooperation between companies of both countries and is willing to contribute to the further growth of China-UK business relations. The meeting was also attended by Bao Ling, Minister for Economic and Commercial Affairs at the Embassy, among others.
