Ambassador Zheng Zeguang visits the University of Nottingham

On 17 April 2024, H.E. Ambassador Zheng Zeguang visited the University of Nottingham. Counsellor Hua Mei, wife of the Ambassador, Minister Counsellor for Education Affairs Zhang Jin, Minister Counsellor for Press and Public Affairs Bi Haibo, and Counsellor for Political Affairs Kong Xiangwen attended the event.

When meeting with Professor Shearer West, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nottingham, Ambassador Zheng pointed out that China is committed to pursuing modernisation with Chinese characteristics, and is advancing high-quality development on all fronts and accelerating the development of new quality productive forces. China places great importance on education and science and technology, and encourages active exchanges and cooperation between Chinese universities and their foreign counterparts. He said that the University of Nottingham has long valued cooperation with China. Since its establishment 20 years ago, the University of Nottingham Ningbo China has achieved tremendous success, and collaboration between Nottingham and other Chinese universities has also been fruitful. The facts show that China-UK educational cooperation has brought tangible benefits to both sides. He hoped that Nottingham will further expand its cooperation in teaching and research with Chinese universities so as to create more opportunities for mutual learning between Chinese and British youth and for their growth.

Professor West warmly welcomed Ambassador Zheng and his delegation to the University. She expressed satisfaction with the achievements of cooperation between Nottingham and Chinese universities in recent years. She believed that the two sides can deepen cooperation in more areas of mutual interest and welcomed Chinese students to study and pursue further education at the University.

During the visit, Ambassador Zheng met with representatives of Chinese students studying at the University, and had a pleasant talk with them.
