Ambassador Zheng Zeguang Meets with Welsh Minister for Economy Vaughan Gething

On July 6, Ambassador Zheng Zeguang met with Vaughan Gething, Welsh Minister for Economy during a visit to Wales. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening exchanges and cooperation between China and Wales in various fields, including economy and trade.

Minister Gething welcomed the visit of Ambassador Zheng and his delegation, saying that the Welsh government attaches great importance to relations with China and is committed to expanding friendly exchanges and practical cooperation with Chongqing in various fields. Wales is open to investment from China and welcomes  more Chinese students and tourists coming for studies and sightseeing. Wales has outstanding advantages in agriculture, high value-added manufacturing, life sciences, renewable energy and other fields, and hopes to further explore the Chinese market and look forward to becoming a constructive partner of China. He hoped that both sides will work together and continue to deepen cooperation in other fields such as education, culture, tourism, and sports.

Ambassador Zheng spoke highly of the Welsh government's commitment to developing relations with China, noting that Wales has a unique history, culture and resources, and has great potential for development. Ambassador Zheng introduced the remarkable achievements made by China in efficiently coordinating pandemic prevention and control as well as economic and social development, saying that China is making solid efforts to promote high-quality development and expanding high-level opening to the outside world. China is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Wales to match their respective advantages and work for mutual benefits. China continues to encourage Chongqing to deepen friendly exchanges and cooperation with Wales in various sectors. He expressed his hope that both sides will strengthen the docking of development strategies to identify areas of cooperation while fully tapping the potential and expanding bilateral trade. He encouraged the business communities of both sides to strengthen dialogue and communication and explore more opportunities for investment and cooperation. Ambassador Zheng mentioned that both sides should actively expand cooperation in green industry, financial technology and creative industries, and bring out the potential for cooperation in education, culture, tourism, sports and other fields. He said that China is willing to work together with the Welsh government and all sectors to turn the potential for cooperation into practical results that benefit the people of both sides.
