On 3 September, Counsellor Hua Mei, wife of Ambassador Zheng Zeguang, had a video meeting with Ms Betty Yao, co-founder of the Pan-Asian Women's Association (PAWA) in the UK.
Ms Yao welcomed Ambassador Zheng Zeguang and Mme Hua Mei to the UK and made an introduction of PAWA and her work in cultural exhibitions, education and charity. She expressed her appreciation to the Chinese Embassy for its long-standing support for the Association and hoped to continue the exchanges and cooperation with the Chinese side in related fields.
Counsellor Hua Mei said she was delighted to make the acquaintance and spoke highly of the work that PAWA and Ms Yao herself had done over the years to spread Chinese culture. She shared information about China’s achievements in poverty alleviation and education for women and children. The Chinese Embassy is ready to strengthen cooperation with PAWA in carrying out cultural and educational exchange activities in order to make further contribution to the development of women and children’s welfare in China, the UK and beyond, Hua said.
