
On 24 April 2026, Minister Zhang Zhixin of the Chinese Embassy in the UK attended and delivered remarks at the “Amazing Shanghai, City Tea Salon” event. Ma Xiaohong, President of Shanghai United Media Group and President of the Shanghai International Culture Association, and Edward Stanley, 19th Earl of Derby, also delivered remarks. A congratulatory message was sent by the UK Prime Minister’s Office. More than 100 representatives from the political, business and cultural sectors of China and the UK attended the event. Minister Zhang presented the key outcomes of China’s “Two Sessions” and the main priorities of the 15th Five-Year Plan, underscoring China’s commitment to advancing high-quality development in all respects, expanding high-standard opening up, promoting green transformation, and making new contributions to global development, peace and stability. He also elaborated on the Global Civilisation Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping, and expressed hope that China and the UK will deepen cooperation, strengthen exchanges and mutual learning, manage differences, and promote the steady development of bilateral relations. He encouraged friends from the UK to visit China under the visa-free policy and gain a true, multidimensional and comprehensive understanding of China.
