On 12 August 2025, Minister Zhao Fei of the Chinese Embassy in the UK attended the Engage with China Scholarship reception and delivered remarks. Over 50 participants were present, including Directors H-J Colston-Inge and Theresa Booth of Engage with China, and scholarship awardees and their teachers and parents. Five representatives of the students and their parents shared their experiences and reflections from their visits to China.
Minister Zhao noted in his remarks that educational cooperation is a driving force for the sound and steady development of China-UK relations. Students are the most vibrant contributors, the most faithful witnesses, and the most direct beneficiaries of China-UK educational and cultural exchanges. It is hoped that studying in China will sow the seeds of China-UK friendship, which will grow over time into towering trees, continuously contributing to closer China-UK friendship and cooperation and to exchanges and mutual learning between civilisations. Director H-J Colston-Inge said that the Engage with China Scholarship will continue to promote UK-China educational exchanges and cooperation in a bid to lay a solid foundation of public support for the sound and steady growth of bilateral ties.
