On July 3, the Chinese Embassy in the UK held a Belt and Road forum for young delegates from the Global Diplomatic Forum. Counsellor Guo Chentao delivered a keynote speech on Belt and Road Initiative and took questions from the participants. The event was attended by Younes El-Ghazi, Chief Executive of Global Diplomatic Forum, and more than 90 young diplomats, scholars, students and business representatives from over 30 countries.

Counsellor Guo briefed the participants on the beliefs, principles, priorities and the latest cooperation on Belt and Road Initiative and elaborated on China’s policies of reform and opening-up, fostering a new type of international relations, and building a community with a shared future for mankind. The Counsellor also exchanged views with them on the Belt and Road financing, debt and security risks, bilateral and regional cooperation, as well as international and regional hot issues.

The young delegates participated in an enthusiastic and open discussion following the keynote speech, which they regarded as timely, detailed and food for thought. The Forum contributed to better understanding of and confidence in the Belt and Road Initiative, and inspired readiness to promote participation in the BRI cooperation.

Young Diplomats Forum is organized by the Global Diplomatic Forum, a non-profit organization based in London. It is a program aiming to provide a direct channel of interaction amongst the next generation of diplomats with world leading experts. The Belt and Road forum is part of the agenda of the 10th Young Diplomats Forum.
