2026-11-02 23:55

On November 2, 2026, President Xi Jinping and President of Peru Keiko Fujimori exchanged congratulatory messages on the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

President Xi Jinping noted that China and Peru are comprehensive strategic partners. Over the past 55 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China-Peru relations have maintained sound momentum despite changes in the international landscape. Political mutual trust between the two countries has grown increasingly strong, fruitful outcomes have been achieved in practical cooperation across various fields, and friendship between the two peoples has taken deep root in their hearts. China appreciates Peru's longstanding commitment to the one-China principle. The protocol to upgrade the China-Peru free trade agreement officially entered into force on November 1, which is believed to give a strong boost to the upgrading and improvement of China-Peru economic and trade cooperation and inject fresh impetus into the development of bilateral relations. Xi Jinping said that he attaches great importance to the development of China-Peru relations and stands ready to work with President Keiko Fujimori to take the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations as a new starting point, steer China-Peru relations to new heights and better benefit the two peoples.

President Keiko Fujimori said that the two countries have jointly forged strong bonds of friendship, mutual respect and cooperation. Bilateral relations have continued to draw strength from the traditional friendship between the two peoples, and deepen and expand under the framework of the comprehensive strategic partnership. Peru reaffirms its firm commitment to the one-China principle and stands ready to continue strengthening political dialogue and cooperation with China.
