Li Qiang Meets with Chairman of the National Assembly of Viet Nam Tran Thanh Man
2026-10-12 23:55

On the afternoon of October 12, 2026, Premier of the State Council Li Qiang met with Chairman of the National Assembly of Viet Nam Tran Thanh Man at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Li Qiang stated that in recent years, under the strategic guidance of General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and General Secretary and President of Viet Nam To Lam, the China-Viet Nam community with a shared future has been constantly advanced in depth and in substance. In April this year, the top leaders of the two Parties and two countries met in Beijing, further charting the course for deepening bilateral relations. China stands ready to work with Viet Nam as “comrades plus brothers” to carry forward time‑honored traditional friendship, enhance solidarity and mutual trust, and expand mutually‑beneficial cooperation, so as to deliver greater benefits to the two peoples and inject positive energy into regional and global stability and prosperity.

Li Qiang pointed out that China is ready to work with Viet Nam to strengthen alignment of development strategies, better leverage the role of the mechanisms such as the Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation, make the pie bigger and better for economic cooperation and trade between the two countries, and pursue higher‑quality and more efficient cooperation in connectivity, artificial intelligence, clean energy, digital economy and other fields. The two sides should work together to successfully hold events such as the China-Viet Nam Tourism Cooperation Year, deepen people‑to‑people and cultural exchanges in medicine, education, youth and other areas, and consolidate the foundation of public support for friendship between the two countries. Confronted with an international landscape fraught with turmoil and uncertainty, China stands ready to step up communication and coordination with Viet Nam under multilateral frameworks such as APEC, China‑ASEAN and Lancang‑Mekong Cooperation, jointly respond to risks and challenges, and safeguard the common interests of the two countries and the region. It is hoped that the legislative bodies of the two countries will give strong support to bilateral practical cooperation and play a greater role in providing legal guarantees and boosting people‑to‑people connectivity.

Tran Thanh Man stated that facing complex changes in the international landscape, China has secured major new achievements in economic and social development. It boasts one of the highest growth rates among major world economies and has made breakthroughs and taken the lead globally in scientific and technological innovation. Viet Nam extends its sincere congratulations on these accomplishments. Viet Nam always regards China as a top priority and a strategic choice in its foreign relations, and firmly adheres to the one‑China policy. Guided by the important understandings reached by the top leaders of the two Parties and two countries, Viet Nam will work with China to maintain close exchanges at all levels, consolidate political mutual trust, enhance strategic coordination, advance practical cooperation covering economy, trade, investment, connectivity, artificial intelligence, agriculture and other fields, deepen people‑to‑people and cultural exchanges, and strengthen multilateral coordination. The National Assembly of Viet Nam highly values and endorses Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law. It is ready to strengthen exchanges on governance experience with China, and play an active part in advancing bilateral cooperation across all fields and building a higher-level Viet Nam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.

Wang Dongming was present at the meeting.
