Li Qiang Meets with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon
2026-10-19 23:36

On the morning of October 19, 2026, Premier of the State Council Li Qiang met in Dushanbe with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.

Li Qiang noted that China and Tajikistan are currently working to build a bilateral community with a shared future. In May this year, President Xi Jinping held a meeting with President Emomali Rahmon, further planning the development of bilateral relations. China cherishes its profound friendship with Tajikistan and will always view China-Tajikistan relations from a strategic and long-term perspective. China is ready to work with Tajikistan to consolidate and deepen political mutual trust, firmly support each other’s core interests, continuously improve the quality and efficiency of cooperation, and continue to move forward hand in hand on the path of modernization.

Li Qiang pointed out that China is ready to expand the scale of bilateral trade with Tajikistan, strengthen cooperation in infrastructure, green minerals, connectivity and other fields, expand cooperation in emerging industries such as the digital economy and artificial intelligence, and jointly strengthen the drivers of economic growth. The two sides should deepen cooperation in law enforcement and security, strengthen intelligence exchange and sharing, and jointly fight against the three forces of terrorism, separatism and extremism, so as to uphold lasting regional peace and stability. It is hoped that Tajikistan will continue to take strong measures to ensure the safety of Chinese individuals and enterprises in Tajikistan. China fully supports Tajikistan in successfully hosting this session of the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government (Prime Ministers) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and is ready to work with all parties to promote the higher-quality development of the SCO. China is also ready to strengthen communication and coordination with Tajikistan within multilateral mechanisms such as the U.N. and the China-Central Asia mechanism, actively implement the four major global initiatives put forward by President Xi Jinping, and jointly build a community with a shared future for humanity.

Emomali Rahmon said that Tajikistan has always attached great importance to and deeply cherished its partnership with China. In May this year, he held a successful meeting with President Xi Jinping during his visit to China, reaching a series of important understandings that charted the course for the development of Tajikistan‑China relations. Tajikistan firmly adheres to the one‑China principle and firmly supports China in safeguarding its core interests. Tajikistan is ready to further deepen cooperation with China in economy and trade, industry, agriculture, energy and minerals, connectivity, artificial intelligence and other fields, and promote people‑to‑people and cultural exchanges. Tajikistan firmly supports the four major global initiatives put forward by President Xi Jinping, and is ready to strengthen multilateral coordination with China in the U.N., the SCO, the China-Central Asia mechanism and other frameworks, so as to take the China-Tajikistan comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in the new era to new heights and jointly build a bilateral community with a shared future.

Wu Zhenglong was present at the meeting.
