Li Qiang Meets with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev
2026-10-18 23:55

On October 17, 2026 local time, Premier of the State Council Li Qiang met with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent.

Li Qiang stated that in recent years, under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, new achievements have continued to be made in building a China-Uzbekistan community with a shared future. Amid an international landscape marked by intertwined changes and turbulence, China and Uzbekistan should work in closer solidarity and coordination, and move forward hand in hand with determination. China stands ready to strengthen strategic communication with Uzbekistan, continue to firmly support each other’s core interests, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, and bring greater benefits to the two peoples.

Li Qiang pointed out that China stands ready to work with Uzbekistan to expand the scale and optimize the structure of bilateral trade, strengthen cooperation in such fields as energy, mineral resources, finance, and connectivity, ensure the high-quality implementation of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project, deepen cooperation in scientific and technological innovation in such fields as artificial intelligence, the green economy, and aerospace, and jointly seize opportunities for future development. China supports more capable Chinese enterprises in investing and doing business in Uzbekistan and hopes that Uzbekistan will continue to provide a favorable business environment for enterprises. The two sides should promote closer people-to-people ties and expedite the establishment of cultural centers in each other’s countries. China stands ready to strengthen coordination of positions with Uzbekistan on major issues, work more closely together on multilateral platforms such as the China-Central Asia mechanism and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), safeguard the common interests of the two countries, and contribute to peace and development in the region and the world at large.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev extended congratulations on the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, stating that under the wise leadership of President Xi Jinping, China is making great strides toward national rejuvenation. Uzbekistan-China relations are now enjoying a “golden era.” He noted that his successful meeting with President Xi Jinping during the SCO Summit in Bishkek had charted the course for advancing bilateral cooperation. Uzbekistan firmly adheres to the one-China principle, firmly supports China in safeguarding its core interests, and will continue to work with China to combat the three forces of terrorism, separatism and extremism. Uzbekistan welcomes more Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in the country and stands ready to work with China to accelerate the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway and advance cooperation and exchanges across various fields. Uzbekistan supports the four global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping and stands ready to strengthen communication and coordination with China in multilateral affairs and continue to make new progress in developing the Uzbekistan-China all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership for a new era.

Wu Zhenglong attended the meeting.
