Ding Xuexiang Attends and Addresses the 2026 Annual General Meeting of China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development
2026-09-30 12:41

On the afternoon of September 29, 2026, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Vice Premier of the State Council and Chairperson of China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED) Ding Xuexiang attended in Beijing the CCICED 2026 Annual General Meeting and delivered a speech.

Ding Xuexiang stated that under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, China has made remarkable achievements in ecological advancement, which have been widely recognized and highly praised by the international community. During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, China will accelerate the advancement of green transition in all respects of economic and social development. It will pursue more ambitious goals for green and low-carbon development, adopt more forceful tasks and measures, and build a more rigorous institutional system. We are confident that a new stride will be made in building a Beautiful China.

Ding Xuexiang stressed that to achieve sustainable development, all sides need to advance together for green development. He put forward three proposals. First, we need to advance green and low-carbon development through pragmatic actions. We will firmly uphold the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and its Paris Agreement and fully implement the Action Initiative for Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, so as to bring greater certainty and positive energy to global climate governance and biodiversity conservation. Second, We need to foster green productivity through sci-tech innovation. We will accelerate the improvement of the green technology innovation system, jointly pursue research on green and low-carbon technologies, facilitate technology transformation and application, and promote in‑depth integration of industrial digitalization, smart transformation and green transition. Third, We need to improve global environmental and climate governance through openness and cooperation. We will advance high-quality and green Belt and Road cooperation, deepen South-South cooperation on climate change, promote the free flow of high-quality green technologies and products, and enable the fruits of green development to better benefit people across the world.

Ding Xuexiang noted that over the past five years, CCICED Phase VII members and experts have offered valuable suggestions, boosted China-foreign exchanges and cooperation, and made important contributions to ecological advancement in China and beyond. The Chinese Government has formally approved the establishment of the eighth Phase of CCICED, and will continue to give strong support to its development. It is hoped that CCICED members and experts will keep contributing their wisdom and expertise to building a Beautiful China and advancing global sustainable development.

Themed “Pragmatic and Innovative Cooperation, Advancing Together for Green Development”, CCICED 2026 Annual General Meeting was attended by over 400 participants, including Chinese and foreign CCICED members, experts and observers.
