Ambassador Zheng Zeguang has recently held separate meetings via video links with leaders of the British business community, including Sir Douglas Flint, the UK’s Special Envoy to the Belt and Road Initiative and Chairman of Standard Life Aberdeen; Mark Tucker, Chairman of HSBC Group; José Viñals, Chairman of Standard Chartered and David Sayer, Vice Chairman of China-Britain Business Council and Chairman of KPMG Asia Pacific.
Ambassador Zheng informed them of the domestic achievements China has made in coordinating epidemic prevention and control with economic and social development. He commended the British business community for their efforts in promoting China-UK trade and economic cooperation and bilateral relations and encouraged them to seize the enormous opportunity brought by the new development paradigm and high-quality development China is fostering. He hoped they will continue expanding their business on the principle of mutual-benefit and contribute to business cooperation and a sound and steady relationship between China and the UK.
The British business leaders expressed optimism about the opportunities presented by China’s development and readiness to make full use of their own strengths, expand existing cooperation with their partners in China and explore new areas so as to promote the development of China-UK economic cooperation and bilateral relations.
