Ambassador Zheng Zeguang Attends and Addresses Briefing on China’s 15th Five-Year Plan and New Opportunities for China-UK Cooperation
2025-12-07 17:23

On 1 December 2025, Chinese Ambassador to the UK Zheng Zeguang attended a Briefing on China’s 15th Five-Year Plan and New Opportunities for China-UK Cooperation, jointly hosted by the China-Britain Business Council and the China Chamber of Commerce in the UK.

In his remarks, Ambassador Zheng welcomed the visit to the UK by Mr Xin Changxing, Secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, who led a delegation to brief representatives from various sectors in the UK on the important outcomes of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and the recommendations for the 15th Five-Year Plan. He pointed out that facts have fully demonstrated that under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese people are making new achievements through unremitting efforts, continuing the twin miracles of rapid economic development and long-term social stability. Chinese modernisation brings stability and positive energy to the world. Any narrative peddling the so-called “China threat” is disinformation that distorts the truth. This briefing will help debunk lies, enhance understanding, and promote cooperation.

Ambassador Zheng also noted that while some progress has recently been made in China-UK relations, there are still disruptions and obstacles. He called on the British business community to take the lead in making new contributions to promoting dialogue, exchanges, and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, and to steering bilateral relations onto a track of sound and steady development.

At the briefing, Secretary Xin presented the drafting process and main contents of the recommendations for the 15th Five-Year Plan, and China’s major goals and key measures for economic and social development in the next five years. He emphasised that embracing China means embracing opportunities, that believing in China means believing in the future, and that investing in China means investing in a better tomorrow. Jiangsu Province is ready to continue mutually beneficial cooperation with the UK in various fields.

During his visit to the UK, Secretary Xin also met with Secretary of State for Business and Trade Peter Kyle and held discussions with members of parliament from the UK’s main political parties. Ambassador Zheng attended these events.
