Embassy Spokesperson on Erroneous Remarks about China by UK Intelligence Official
2026-10-13 18:46

Question: It is reported that MI5 chief Ken McCallum listed various security threats facing the UK when delivering the agency’s annual threat update and alleged that China had conducted espionage, coercion or interference against the UK. What is your comment?

Embassy Spokesperson: The UK intelligence official’s remarks about China are entirely fabricated and constitute malicious slander. China firmly opposes and strongly condemns such comments.

China has always adhered to the principle of non-interference in other countries’ internal affairs. China poses no threat to any country and has no interest in interfering in the UK’s internal affairs. We urge the UK’s intelligence agencies to stop fabricating and spreading disinformation about China and to stop misleading the public and undermining China-UK relations.
