Question: Recently, the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre, together with the intelligence agencies of a few other countries, issued an advisory alleging that China-linked actors have used routers and other smart devices to hide malicious cyber activity. What is your comment? Embassy Spokesperson: The UK’s claims are completely unfounded and amount to baseless smears and attacks against China. We firmly oppose this. China is one of the main victims of cyber attacks. It has all along taken resolute measures to prevent and combat all forms of malicious cyber activity in accordance with the law. Cyber security is a common challenge facing all countries. Attempts to politicise or stigmatise this issue will not help address the problem. Rather, they will undermine mutual trust among countries and affect global cooperation. China urges the UK to immediately correct its erroneous practices, stop making China an issue at every turn, and adopt a truly responsible approach to safeguarding order in cyberspace.
