Question: On 12 September, the UK government announced sanctions on entities and individuals from several countries, including three Chinese entities, for supplying key equipment to the Russian military. What is your comment? Embassy Spokesperson: These sanctions are unilateral actions without any basis in international law. They undermine the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises. China firmly opposes such a move and has made serious representations to the UK. I want to reiterate that China has been committed to promoting peace talks on the Ukraine crisis. We have never provided lethal weapons to the parties to the conflict, and we have exercised strict control over dual-use exports. Moreover, normal engagement and cooperation between Chinese and Russian enterprises should not be interfered with or disrupted. We urge the UK side to correct its wrongdoing and immediately lift its sanctions on Chinese entities. China will take all necessary measures to firmly safeguard the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.
