Question: On 28 August, the UK-Japan Defence Ministerial Meeting issued a joint statement, expressing concerns over China-related issues including Taiwan, the East China Sea and the South China Sea, and falsely accusing China of “provision to Russia of dual-use assistance”. What is your comment? Embassy Spokesperson: The China-related contents in the UK-Japan joint statement distort facts and reverse right and wrong. China firmly opposes these claims. We urge the UK and Japan to seriously reflect on their wrongful statements and actions concerning Taiwan and maritime issues, to stop interfering in China’s internal affairs, and to cease stirring up trouble and creating tensions in the Asia-Pacific. On the Ukraine issue, China has consistently been committed to promoting peace talks and pushing for a political settlement. We firmly reject the groundless accusations made by the UK and Japan against China.
