Question: Sky News just interviewed relevant people from the "World Uyghur Congress" and the "Uyghur Tribunal", and reported that Chinese officials pressure other countries to detain and deport Uyghurs abroad. What is your comment? Embassy Spokesperson: The allegations of the relevant people from the so-called "World Uyghur Congress" and "Uyghur Tribunal" against the Chinese government are sheer fabrications and malicious slandering, which we strongly condemn. It is widely known that the "World Uyghur Congress" is a violent separatist group. The "Uyghur Tribunal" is a political tool of a handful of anti-China forces funded by the WUC to spread lies and mislead the public. It is not a legal organisation, and has no legal power whatsoever. For some time now, these two organisations have been making up lies and spreading rumours in an attempt to smear China and disrupt Xinjiang. Anyone with a good conscience and common sense will not be blinded by them. It must be pointed out that Xinjiang related affairs have nothing to do with religion, ethnicity or human rights, but everything to do with fighting violence, terrorism and radicalisation. The alleged "mass detention", "forced sterilisation" and "genocide" are lies made out of thin air. Xinjiang now enjoys economic progress, social stability, improved well-being, and ethnic unity. People of all ethnicities are entitled to all rights prescribed by law. The policy of the Chinese government on Xinjiang is embraced by the locals there from all ethnic background. These are facts for all to see. We would like to point out to those rumour makers that their lies have long been exposed, they will never succeed in obstructing the stability, development and prosperity of China's Xinjiang, and their ill intention will only end up in failure. We also urge the relevant media to observe the integrity of journalism, stop making up and spreading rumours, and stop misleading the public.
