Xi Jinping Has a Phone Call with Indonesian President Joko Widodo

On the afternoon of October 14, 2024, President Xi Jinping had a phone call with Indonesian President Joko Widodo at the latter's request.

Xi Jinping pointed out that Joko Widodo has visited China eight times and met with him 12 times during the 10 years as Indonesian president, which led the two countries to open a new chapter in jointly building a community with a shared future, as well as building a new pattern of all-round strategic cooperation. China highly appreciates Joko Widodo's important contribution to the China-Indonesia friendship. Xi Jinping expressed the belief that the new Indonesian government will continue its friendly policy towards China and push the building of a China-Indonesia community with a shared future to a higher level.

Xi Jinping stressed that China is ready to work with Indonesia to pursue high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, ensure the sustainable operation of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway, and create more cooperation highlights, so that bilateral cooperation could provide more benefits to the people of both countries. Next year marks the 70th anniversary of the Bandung Conference. China is ready to work with Indonesia to jointly carry forward the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and the Bandung Spirit, promote solidarity and cooperation among Global South countries, safeguard the common interests of developing countries, and advance development, prosperity and stability in the region and the world at large.

Joko Widodo said that over the past decade, he has forged a deep friendship with President Xi Jinping, leading to significant achievements in the comprehensive strategic partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields between the two countries. He expressed gratitude to China for making positive contributions to Indonesia's economic development, noting that the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway has become a model for Belt and Road cooperation between the two sides. He expressed confidence that under the leadership of the new Indonesian government, bilateral relations will continue to maintain a sound development momentum.
