Li Qiang Holds Talks with Mongolian Prime Minister Luvsannamsrai Oyun-Erdene
2023-06-28 23:55

On the afternoon of June 28, 2023, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council met at the Great Hall of the People with Mongolian Prime Minister Luvsannamsrai Oyun-Erdene, who is in China for an official visit.

Li Qiang said that China and Mongolia, linked by mountains and rivers, are important neighbors to each other. Maintaining a long-term, stable, good-neighborly, and friendly relationship fully conforms to the fundamental interests of the two peoples. Recalling President Xi Jinping's successful meeting with President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa last year, Li Qiang said the two presidents have jointly drawn a new blueprint for the development of China-Mongolia relations in the new era. China is ready to work with Mongolia to follow through on the important common understandings reached between the two heads of state, continue enriching the China-Mongolia comprehensive strategic partnership, deepen political mutual trust and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two sides, accelerate the building of a China-Mongolia community with a shared future, and deliver more benefits to the two peoples.

Li Qiang pointed out that China is ready to work with Mongolia to support each other on issues related to respective core interests and major concerns. While advancing Chinese modernization, China is ready to deepen cooperation with Mongolia in various fields, and welcomes the Mongolian side to share in the new opportunities brought by China’s development. The two sides should synergize strategies in an improved manner, jointly build a high-quality Belt and Road, facilitate trade and investment, and expand cooperation in the mining and energy sectors. Efforts should also be made to enhance the connectivity of borders and ports, intensify cooperation on desertification control, enhance exchanges in such areas as tourism and education, and promote amity between the two peoples. China will continue providing assistance to Mongolia to the best of its capacity for the latter’s economic and social development.

Oyun-Erdene said that Mongolia and China enjoy mutual trust and friendly interactions. The two sides respect each other’s core interests and major concerns, and maintain close exchanges and cooperation, setting a fine example of state-to-state relations. Strengthening cooperation with China is the top priority of Mongolia’s foreign policy. Mongolia abides by the one-China principle and appreciates China’s valuable support for Mongolia’s fight against COVID-19. Mongolia is ready to seek greater synergy between its “Vision 2050” long-term development policy and the Belt and Road Initiative, the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative, and deepen bilateral cooperation in such areas as ports, energy and mining, science and technology, tourism, anti-corruption, desertification prevention and control, urban planning, and youth, to elevate Mongolia-China relations to new heights. Mongolia is ready to work with China to uphold multilateralism, maintain regional peace and stability, and jointly address climate change and other global challenges.

After the talks, Premier Li and Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene jointly witnessed the signing of multiple bilateral cooperation documents in such areas as transportation, finance, quarantine, media, and wildlife protection.

Prior to the talks, Li Qiang held a welcome ceremony for Oyun-Erdene at the North Hall of the Great Hall of the People.

Wu Zhenglong was present at the above events.

On the morning of the same day, Oyun-Erdene laid a wreath at the Monument to the People’s Heroes.
