Li Keqiang Meets with President of the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly Csaba Kőrösi
2023-02-03 21:45

On the morning of February 3, 2023, Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council met with President of the 77th Session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly Csaba Kőrösi at the Great Hall of the People.

Li Keqiang welcomed Kőrösi’s visit to China. He said that it is the prevailing aspiration of people around the world to seek peace and pursue development. President Xi Jinping said at a conference of the UN General Assembly that China is committed to practicing multilateralism and safeguarding the international system with the UN at its core. As the current regional and international situations undergo profound and complex changes, China stands ready to work with all parties to uphold the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, international law and the basic norms governing international relations. China will remain committed to the right direction of economic globalization and a multi-polar world, and safeguard world peace and stability. As a founding member of the UN and a permanent member of the UN Security Council, China will, as always, actively support and participate in multiple tasks of the UN, strengthen coordination and cooperation in such areas as sustainable development, climate change, water resources and UN reform, and jointly address global challenges.

Li Keqiang noted that China is the defender and participant of the existing international order, as well as the beneficiary and promoter of global openness. No matter how the international landscape may evolve, China will remain firmly committed to the path of peaceful development, remain committed to its fundamental national policy of reform and opening up, pursue a mutually beneficial strategy of opening up, and hold dear humanity’s shared values of peace, development, fairness, justice, democracy, and freedom. China will develop itself through extensive international exchanges and cooperation, and also provide new opportunities for the development of the world.

Kőrösi said that the UN hopes to deepen friendship and strengthen cooperation with China to jointly address the political, economic, ecological, water resources and humanitarian crises and other challenges facing the world today, achieve sustainable development and advance reform based on scientific decision-making mechanisms. The UN appreciates China’s support for the work of the UN and hopes that China will continue to play a greater role in various aspects.
