On 25 June, Charge D’Affairs Cong Peiwu attended the launch ceremony of the China Report, the UK edition of China Newsweek in the House of Parliament and read the congratulatory message from Ambassador Liu Xiaoming.
In his congratulatory message, Ambassador Liu said, in recent years, China–UK cooperation and exchanges in fields like culture and media have been continuously expanding and the launch of the China Report is another positive piece of news for friendly exchanges between China and the UK. He expressed his hope that the journal will help the British society better understand China by demonstrating a contemporary China of self–improvement, confidence, openness and inclusiveness, and providing more modern Chinese stories for British readers. He also hopes British China Newsweek can further enhance exchanges between Chinese and British media, bring together wisdom of professional journalists from both countries, and promote interactions between them so as to improve media cooperation between China and the UK. He expects the journal to promote Chinese and British cooperation in all fields and inject more positive energy into the development of China–UK relations by actively introducing and enhancing exchanges and cooperation in various fields including economy and trade, culture and education.
President of China News Service, Mr. Liu Beixian, expressed his hope that a more accurate and comprehensive understanding of China’s development and progresses will be provided through the reports of British China Newsweek.
Vice Chairman of All-Party Parliamentary China Group Mark Hendrick attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.
China Newsweek, a publication of the China News Service, was founded in 2000 and has become one of the most influential news magazines in China on current affairs, with a philosophy of International Perspective, Position of China, Appeal of Originality and Professional Spirit.
