Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan Meets Former British PM Gordon Brown
2011-06-14 17:01

Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan met with former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown on June 13, 2011, saying he appreciated Brown's contribution to Sino-British ties.

Brown had made consistent efforts to push forward the bilateral relationship in a healthy way, said Wang.

The vice premier called on the two countries to deepen practical cooperation by giving full play to the China-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue, which was initiated in 2008.

Wang also said the top priority for all the countries was to ensure a strong economic recovery, noting that the world economy still faced uncertainties.

"As the Group of 20 (G20) is a major platform for global economic governance, member countries need to boost cooperation to promote a robust, sustainable and balanced world economic growth," he said.

Brown said Britain was willing to cement cooperation with China in all areas and that China's economic development had contributed to world economic growth. (Xinhua)
