People from Various Circles Visit the Chinese Embassy in the UK to Express Their Deep Condolences on the Passing of Comrade Jiang Zemin
2022-12-06 21:23

From 2 to 6 December 2022, people from various circles in the UK, foreign diplomats, and representatives of international organisations in London visited the Chinese Embassy to express their deep condolences and sympathies to the Chinese Government and people over the passing of Comrade Jiang Zemin. Friendly groups and personnel sent messages and letters of condolence to the Embassy.

On the morning of 6 December, Minster of State Anne-Marie Trevelyan in the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office came to the Embassy and expressed condolences on behalf of the UK Government, noting that President Jiang Zemin was the first Chinese President to visit the UK and played a key role in the UK-China relationship.

People from various circles visiting the Embassy spoke highly of Comrade Jiang’s historic contribution to China’s reform, opening up, and modernisation and to China’s endeavour to develop friendly relations with other countries. Many people from the UK side recalled Comrade Jiang’s state visit to the UK in 1999 and expressed their readiness to make continuous efforts to promote mutual understanding and friendship between the people of the two countries.

The Embassy extends its sincere appreciation to people from various circles and friendly groups for coming to offer their condolences and sending messages and letters of condolence to the Embassy.
