On October 12, Chinese Ambassador of the UK Zheng Zeguang was invited to attend and speak at the high-level video dialogue between HRH The Prince of Wales and Chinese business leaders.
Ambassador Zheng expressed his warm congratulations on the success of the high-level dialogue and pointed out that under the guidance of Xi Jinping's thought on ecological civilization, China is taking concrete and vigorous steps to develop green and low-carbon development, preserve biological diversity and respond to climate change. Its carbon peak and neutrality goals and a series of significant measures not only meet the needs to achieve sustainable development at home. They are also a powerful push for climate response and ecological conservation around the world and a display of China’s commitment as a responsible country.
He called on Chinese and British business communities to actively expand practical cooperation both at the bilateral level and in third markets along the Belt and Road so as to realise green and low-carbon development for China, for the UK and for the relevant third party, and contribute to global ecological civilization.
The dialogue, themed "Common Earth, Common Future", was hosted by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade. The Prince of Wales, Gao Yan, President of CCPIT, and Brian Moynihan, Chairman of Bank of America and Co-Chair of the Sustainable Markets Initiative, delivered speeches. Twenty entrepreneurs from China's energy, environmental protection, finance, manufacturing, communications, biomedical, artificial intelligence, infrastructure and other related industries participated in the dialogue and discussed new opportunities for cooperation between Chinese and international business communities in the field of sustainable development.
