Question: The UK House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee released a report, claiming that China poses a "threat" to British interests, slandering China for engaging in so-called "transnational repression", clamouring for "de-risking" from China, and calling Taiwan an "independent country." What is your comment? Embassy Spokesperson: The China-related contents in the relevant report are full of ideological prejudice and Cold War mentality, maliciously distorts China's domestic and foreign policies, and grossly interferes in China's internal affairs. We firmly oppose this and have made a strong demarche to the UK side. China's development represents the growth of forces for world peace, not a threat to any country. It will only bring opportunities for common development to all countries. The so-called "transnational repression" by China is pure fabrication and nothing but political manipulation by ill-intentioned Western politicians trying to discredit China. The clamour for “de-risking” against China is based on a false narrative which essentially aims at "decoupling” and “severing industrial and value chains." Such an approach itself is the biggest risk to global development. The one-China principle is a universal consensus of the international community and a basic norm in international relations. It is also the political foundation and important prerequisite for the establishment and development of diplomatic relations between China and the UK. It is outrageous that the above-mentioned report refers to Taiwan as an "independent country". This fully reveals the appalling ignorance and arrogance of the related UK politicians and constitutes a blatant provocation to the Chinese people, and we strongly condemn it. The relevant UK politicians must know that their lies have long been exposed. They must abandon their prejudices, correct their mentality, respect the facts, and stop wantonly attacking China as soon as possible. Otherwise, they will only arouse stronger opposition and resistance from the Chinese people and the British people with moral sense.
