Embassy Spokesperson’s Remarks on So-called “Overseas Police Service Centres”
2022-11-20 08:19

Question: Recently, a few number of individuals in the UK have been clamouring about China setting up “overseas police service centres” in London. Does the Chinese Embassy have any comment on it?

Embassy Spokesperson: According to our understanding, what they mentioned are not “police stations” or “police service centres”. These are sites assisting overseas Chinese nationals who need help in accessing the online service platform to get their driving licenses renewed and receive physical check-ups for that purpose. The venues are provided by local overseas Chinese communities who want to be helpful and the people there are all volunteers who come from these communities. They are not police personnel from China. It is hoped that the relevant sides will refrain from malicious hyping of it.
