The Chinese Embassy in the UK holds a press briefing on the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee
2024-07-24 12:05

On 23 July 2024, the Chinese Embassy in the UK held a press briefing for Chinese and foreign media on the third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. Embassy Spokesperson Minister Counsellor Bi Haibo gave a briefing on the theme and answered questions from the media. Journalists from People’s Daily, Xinhua News Agency, China Central Television, China Daily, CGTN, China News Service, Phoenix TV, Sky News, The Guardian, The Times and The Spectator participated in the event.

The Minister Councellor elaborated on the significant achievements and major decisions made at the plenary session, such as the “Seven Focuses” and “Six Principles,” emphasised the importance of further deepening reform in all respects to promoting high-quality development and advancing Chinese modernisation, and highlighted the historic accomplishments and experiences of reform and opening up in the new era, as well as the objectives and major measures for further deepening reform going forward. He noted that China further deepening reform and pursuing high-standard opening-up will inject stability and certainty into a world of change and disorder, and create more development opportunities for countries around the world, including the UK.

The Minister Councellor then answered questions on topics such as high-standard opening-up, people’s livelihoods, the path of peaceful development, China-UK relations, and the Palestinian issue.
