On 2 July 2024, Minister Zhao Fei at the Chinese Embassy in the UK attended and addressed the reception for “A Beautiful and Happy Xizang: Exhibition of Tibetan Medicine Thangka Painting.” Luo Mei, Deputy Chairperson of the government of the Xizang Autonomous Region, and more than 60 representatives from British political parties, and the medicine, culture, science and technology sectors, as well as overseas Chinese communities in the UK, joined the event. Minister Zhao noted that Xizang has undergone historical transformations in the 73 years since its peaceful liberation. Today’s Xizang enjoys freedom of religious belief, social harmony, and ethnic amity, and is one of the regions with the best ecological environment in the world. It has embarked on a new development path of high-quality plateau economy. Its prosperity and development has demonstrated that the lies about it fabricated by some Western forces out of ideological prejudice do not hold water. Minister Zhao also introduced China's hosting of the conference marking the 70th anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and the Beijing Declaration of the Conference Marking the 70th Anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, emphasising that China is ready to work with people of insight from all sectors in the UK to further champion the Five Principles and make unremitting efforts towards the sustained and stable development of China-UK relations on the basis of mutual respect, mutual benefit, equality and non-interference in each other's internal affairs. Luo Mei outlined Xizang’s medical and health care achievement, Tibetan medicine industry, and cultural protection, and pointed out that Tibetan medicine is a treasure of the Chinese nation. She welcomed friends from all walks of life in the UK to visit Xizang, see the great changes there, and jointly carry on and promote Tibetan medicine. Ten exquisite Thangka paintings depicting Tibetan medicine were displayed at the reception. Guests highly praised the achievements of Xizang’s development and showed great interest in the theory and efficacy of Tibetan medicine, expressing their hope to visit Xizang in the future.
