2020-11-10 23:39

On November 9, 2020, Vice Foreign Minister Qin Gang met with Newly-appointed UK Ambassador to China Caroline Wilson.

Qin Gang said that both China and UK are globally influential countries and major economies in the world. In the context of increasing global challenges and worldwide threat of COVID-19, closer cooperation between the two countries meets their own interests and benefits world peace, stability and development. He hoped both countries make joint efforts to consolidate mutual respect and trust, intensify pragmatic cooperation in pandemic control and economic recovery, and properly manage disputes. China would appreciate Ms. Ambassador's efforts to this regard.

Caroline Wilson said that she has witnessed the rapid growth of China since she took the office. UK attaches great importance to its relation with China and will enhance high-level exchanges and make closer cooperation with China in climate change and vaccine R&D. She as UK Ambassador to China will make due efforts for the sound development of UK-China relations.
